Building Technician - Building Mechanics

You will perform various technical tasks involving research and surveys necessary for the design and execution of development, maintenance, construction, modification, or renovation work in municipal buildings or on land designated for municipal use. You will design reports, development proposals, construction plans, cost estimates, and construction or maintenance specifications and oversee the work on site while ensuring coordination among stakeholders and in accordance with established budgets. You will participate in the development and execution of projects in collaboration with consulting firms or internal professionals.

And more specifically:

• Inspects buildings and land to identify renovation and/or modification opportunities and assess their compliance with construction standards and codes, as well as write inspection reports
• Plans and coordinates with various Services and utility companies the work for the execution of projects or tasks
• Represents the City to consultants, contractors, and suppliers for project execution.
• Communicates, as needed, with representatives from other divisions, City Services, and/or representatives from external organizations to obtain or exchange various information related to their work.
• Writes various reports and correspondence related to their activities

• College diploma (DEC) in building mechanics;
• Have three (3) years of relevant experience in the role, as described in the summary above;
• Hold a valid Health and Safety on Construction Sites card (ASP);
• Possess a valid class 5 driver's license and a vehicle.
